iCompass Paperless Agenda System

Cambridge moves toward paperless council agenda as another example of commitment to environment
Cambridge, ON (October 14, 2010) – The City of Cambridge recently implemented a technological agenda solution that allows the corporation to move toward full implementation of a paperless agenda; The iCompass paperless agenda system adds to the many eco-friendly initiatives underway at the municipality
iCompass Technologies of Kamloops, BC provides a web-based Meeting Management Solution that streamlines the creation, approval and distribution of agendas, minutes and related meeting actions for over 400 local government customers across North America. Since 2009, the City of Cambridge has been working with iCompass to implement these tools. The end result is that the City has effectively reduced the amount of paper consumption within their offices, as critical documents are now produced, processed and distributed electronically.
In subscribing to iCompass’ technology application, Cambridge is furthering its efforts to go green, an initiative the City has been widely recognized for its advisory committee City Green along with grey water recycling at City Hall and public education campaigns around the environment. With the help of the Meeting Management Solution, Cambridge was recently named Canada’s first ‘smarter city’ by IBM.
“We are excited to be associated with Cambridge, a team that is unequivocally and deeply committed to respecting the City’s environmental footprint,” said Todd Stone, President and CEO of iCompass. “We are pleased that our Meeting Management services represent one piece of Cambridge’s overall eco-friendly strategy,” added Stone.
“The iCompass system provides staff with the tools we need to effectively present the information to our community while helping us reduce our overall paper consumption – ultimately saving us money and resulting in a very positive impact on the environment,” says Alex Mitchell, City Clerk.
In 2008, the City of Cambridge introduced the greenest city hall in Canada and the first to receive Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certification from The Canada Green Building Council.
In addition to the implementation of iCompass’ Meeting Management services, Cambridge is currently leading a number of other environmentally friendly initiatives including geothermal energy and solar power generation. The latest infrastructure enhancements at nine facilities is expected to reduce greenhouse gases by 300.5 tonnes when the projects are completed.
